Mountain Goat

The Cariboo Mountains has an outstanding Mountain Goat population averaging 9.5”. Over the years there has been little to no hunting pressure throughout much of the territory as no more than five goat hunters are booked per season. In 2022 the local biologists did a Mountain Goat survey, with excellent results. It is said goats look down on sheep, being in shape is a must as it’s a tough hunt with steep areas. But the rewards are amazing! During your goat hunt you will be spike camping, with altitudes ranging up to 7000′. There may be many hours spent glassing as it can be challenging at times spotting one, so good optics are important. Average shots are around 300 yards but be able to shoot up to 500 yards as getting closer may not be an option. Goat hunting is tough physical work, but when you get that goat, all the pain is forgotten, and you will leave with amazing memories for your kids and grandchildren.
